Angeline is NOT for sale.

If you are interested to donate money to the 四川 quake victims, one of the easiest method is to buy this panda bear from Bread Talk. Each panda bear bread costs S$2.00 and the sales collected will be donated to the quake victims. Buy la! You get to eat and do a good deed at the same time leh!

S$336 done the drain

Angeline just threw away 2 pairs of VIP tickets to Harlem World Tour 2008.

My 小姑 called me yesterday while I was having my Hi-Tea at Royal Plaza on Scotts with my (future) colleagues. She offered two pairs of VIP tickets to Harlem World Tour 2008 at Singapore Indoor Stadium because she was unable to make it. I called Ck to check with him immediately. However, he turned the offer down, as we are suppposed to meet my family to celebrate my dad's birthday the same night. I have to agree with Ck, because it will be disappointing to my dad if we failed to turn up. After all, my dad is more important than Harlem.

Nonetheless, the heart still ache at the thought of throwing S$336 down the drain just like that.

Harlem World Tour 2008

379, 281 views

After Angeline has watched the first video from Youtube, her jaws literally dropped to the ground. Without a doubt, this video has attracted over ten thousands of views globally and many have responded actively to her recording. Angeline has decided just to pick 2 from the list.

Ultimately, Angeline is left speechless. Angeline is just wondering if these people have so much time to do these recording, why can't they just spend the energy to do some stuff that are more constructive? As least, Angeline can say that she has donated money to the quake victims (although the amount is NOT alot).

Don't PIKA Angeline!

Angeline simply has no affinity with this cartoon character, "Pikachu". Not only she finds it irritaing, she regards the high pitch "PIKA" that this character makes is capable of making her snap readily. The other night, Angeline and Ck were talking about children's programmes on Central & Channel 8, it started with R.E.M. (Angeline doesn't know much about it, other than they are 3 teenage girls with some supernatural powers, going around to do the world some good.) and the topic went onto Pokémon. Naturally, Ck started to "PIKA" Angeline and she made him stopped just in time before she decided to sit on him literally.

Pikachu

However, Angeline is indeed contradicting herself. Angeline loves watching 宇宙小毛球 when she was in Secondary school and her favourite character is 毛弟. Throughout the entire cartoon series, 毛弟 could only say two words, "对呀". BUT he managed to use these two words to express a range of emotions, such as anger, joy, fear and jealousy expressively. He would say "对呀,对呀,对呀,对呀,对呀, 对呀,对呀,对呀,对呀,对呀" (Ok, you got the idea) non-stop in his high pitch voice and Angeline would be totally fine with it. To a certain extent, Angeline even thinks that he is cute.

Now the question is "Then how come Angeline finds Pikachu irritating and 毛弟 adorable (since both can only say two words in high pitch tone)?" Angeline is unable to answer the question.

毛弟 is the little green ball.

亚坤's 'Quality Control' has shocked Angeline

Angeline is sure that most of her friends have patronized 亚坤 in Singapore at least once. For Angeline, she loves to drink a cuppa after meals at 亚坤 from time to time. As a result, the half boiled eggs were seldom ordered by Angeline. However, Angeline is aware that 亚坤 serves half boiled eggs that are almost perfect-looking with the promise that the egg yolk will burst in your mouth once you bite on it. Wow! That should make anyone (who loves to eat such eggs) to rush to 亚坤 to purchase them immediately.

Sad to say, 亚坤's quality control of producing such perfect-looking half boiled eggs has shocked Angeline. As usual, Ck went for his cuppa after lunch with his colleagues at Sun Tec City. While waiting for his cuppa, Ck saw that the lady at the counter threw away 4 pairs of eggs (that meant 8 eggs) before she served the perfect looking pair. In Angeline's opinions, that was a 100% wastage of food. Angeline don't see 'kopi tiams' in the neighbourhood doing the same thing. They serves all the half boiled eggs to the customers regardless what the eggs look like, as long as the eggs are half boiled.

Now the question is, "Is this quality control of producing almost perfect-looking half boiled eggs standarized throughout all 亚坤's outlets?"

Ka Yun - 'Kopi', 'Teh', 'Kaya Toast' & 'Half boiled eggs' (Please look at the eggs!)

Angeline even went to surf the Internet to see if there are any blog entry or articles about 亚坤's half boiled eggs. Angeline has learnt the importance of backing up whatever she wants to say with concrete evidences from another fellow blogger, because Angeline seriously don't want to run into the risk of being sued by 亚坤. Angeline got no money one leh!

The half-boiled eggs were a joy. Nicely done, not too much raw parts but yet, not too cooked too. Coffee was nice. It was thick and not diluted, the sweetness was just nice to my standard and preference of coffee so I didn’t need to turn back to the kind offer I was told. - Endoh Taiki

The soft-boiled eggs were how they were supposed to be: soft, wet, and runny enough to be slurped down in one breath. Small jars of dark soy sauce and white pepper are available for you to spice up your eggs. - Aroma

Unlike places in Malaysia, the half boiled eggs are cracked for you. It's actually a good idea as it was perfectly cooked without any clear uncooked egg. Drizzle some soy sauce (which is pretty thick versus the ones we get in Malaysia), sprinkle a dash of white pepper and you'll have a really satisfying meal. I've always loved half boiled eggs ever since I was a kid. It used to be our daily regiment to pop one tiny egg before going to school. - Masak-Masak

Please don't tell Angeline that the 3 people went to the same 亚坤 on the same day that Ck saw the server in action. Angeline is NOT a bimbo. Furthermore, Angeline has picked these comments randomly from several websites. Therefore, Angeline is wondering have these people paused for a second to wonder why did they get to enjoy such eggs all the time they patronized 亚坤. On another note, Angeline will still continue to patronize 亚坤 for their 'kopi' and kaya toast because Angeline likes to eat good food.

"Mei Mei don't want"

Angeline is going to introduce her youngest baby cousin to you. OK! She is not a baby, toddler is a more appropriate term to describle her now. Zhou Mei En is the newest addition to the Chua family (my maternal side). Amazingly, she looks like me and my youngest sister when we were young. In Angeline's context, "look like" is almost like the same. Angeline is serious here eh, Angeline hopes that you are not laughing at her or teasing Mei En that she is unfortunate enough to resemble Angeline.

"Mei Mei don't want" was one of Mei En's first sentence that Angeline has heard from her and it left a deep impression. Being half-Taiwanese, my aunties have nicknamed her called her "qie charbor" (in 台语).

Mei En at Christmas Party

Mei En at Eugene's Farewell Dinner

Mei En is the apple of Angeline's eye now.

Angeline is in denial

Angeline just don't understand how could Chelsea lost to Man U at both EPL and Champions League?

Have you heard of Sunset Grill and Pub?

Angeline was browsing through Women's Weekly last month and she came across this restaurant. It caught her attention immediately because it is located near Singapore Flying Club (Seletar Airbase) and you can actually see planes taking off and landing while you enjoy your meal. Alright! Angeline is a sucker for such 'romantic' places. As a result, she is rather keen to try it.

Back to reality, Angeline has encountered some problems. Firstly, this place is very much inaccessible, as there is no bus services available. Second, going there by taxi will simply test the driver's knowledge of Singapore. Thirdly, Ck is not big on the idea of travelling
to some 'ulu' places to makan for the sake of novetly (only Angeline's assumption). Well, well, well, Angeline is going to pray hard that one of her friends is willing to make the trip with her.

Angeline hopes that these photographs did have an impact on at least 1 of her friend. Anyway, just in case Angeline is being charged for copyright, the above photographs are taken from another website. Angeline DID NOT take it herself.

On a second thought, maybe Angeline should just stick to Jerry's which is located at Club Street. Angeline has compared the two restaurants and found much similiarities. First, the buffalo wings are their specialities. Second, both are equally expensive (1 meal can cost up to S$60.00 for 2 pax). Third, the decor are very much the same (checkered red and white table cloths) focused on Americanized (if there is such a word) design. The only difference is Angeline can't see planes taking off and landing at Club Street. *bish*

Angeline is thinking

Angeline came across the following verses from a friend's profile on Friendster. It got Angeline thinking.

"Adversity builds character"

"A best friend is more than many friends"

"Karma is what goes around, comes around"

"Happiness is sought not given"

"The world is more than the community we live in, tolerate differences, accept others for who they are. Be a citizen of the world"

"Life is short, experience everything you can. Keep an open mind"

"Shit happens"

"If it doesn't affect you, don't criticise it"

"Don't judge what you don't understand"

"Try something different every once in a while, exagerate proportions, role play, walk backwards, get out of your comfort zone"

"Routine is boring, change should always be for the better"

"Everyone has facades, learn to look past them"

"It's more rewarding to emerge as the successful underdog than to be the acknowledged successful"

"Challenge convention, brave new ground"

"Life is a melody of happiness, sorrow, anger, peace, love, fulfillment, hatred and disgust unfolding in rapid succession. Learn to embrace it"

"Everyone is different, no one is better than another"

"Relationships built on serendipity last the longest"

"Nice guys finish last, cause they'll have the last laugh."

"You think you know, but you have no idea."

Beauty and Brains doesn't come together

One of Angeline's friends made this comment. Angeline is still wondering whether this is a compliment or an insult?

Angeline is feeling blissful

Angeline is feeing blissful and so should you if you are reading my blog.

A romantic date with Ck

Angeline and Ck could be well voted as the most romantic couple. Is Angeline blowing her own trumpet (or is it horn)? Of course not. Please continue reading.

Angeline and Ck went to Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 on Sunday with the intention of drinking coffee. The initial plan was to head to Terminal 3 but Ck got disappointed when Carpark 3A and 3B didn't offer him any parking lot when he entered. As a result, he made a u-turn and headed towards Carpark 2A instead. Indeed, the carpark has welcomed him with many available lots. Angeline thus assumed that Ck is pleased that he didn't have to wait for one.

As Angeline has brought the laptop along, it indicated that she is interested to do some Photshop with it. This left Ck with nothing to do except to stare at her doing Photoshop. Being the romantic girlfriend, how could Angeline let Ck do that? Angeline then suggested to go to the bookstore to browse through the books and see if Ck is interested to get anything to read. In the end, Angeline and Ck walked out with a book each. If you are thinking that they got a book each for themselves, you are wrong. Angeline got Ck a book and Ck got Angeline a book. Romantic, isn't it? Honestly, the books were brought to ease each other's guilt about buying books.

Angeline's Book - The Choice by Nicholas Sparks (Angeline has read all his books.)

Ck's Book - Bad Luck and Trouble by Lee Child (Angeline thinks that Ck has read all his books too.)

After all the blah-blah, Angeline and Ck settled down happily at the all children's paradise, MacDonald's. Since the two of them weren't that hungry, they decided to get a drink each. Since Angeline will suffer from insomina if she takes coffee too late (time check - 9.30pm = 3 hours before bedtime), she decided to opt for hot Milo instead. This got Angeline wondering if she is aging faster that she has expected. She heard this symptom from her ex-colleague before. Apparently, the ex-colleague has suffered from insomnia and only managed to fall asleep at 4am when she consumed a cup of Latte from Coffee Bean at 4pm. Angeline is beginning to get more worried now as this did not happen to Ck who got his Latte. Nonethless, Angeline was too eager to read her novel that she pushed it to the back of the brain until NOW.

Ck's Latte and Angeline's Milo

After reading for about 20 minutes, Angeline got hungry and she decided to get herself a Happy Meal. She conveniently forgot that Happy Meal comes with a toy and she is stuck with it. If anyone is interested to get a 'something' (Angeline has no idea what is it) from Wins Club for your daughter, please contact Angeline.

The 'something' from MacDonald's Happy Meal

As Angeline was eating her Happy Meal, Ck suddenly looked up from his book and declared, "I am hungry too." Ck stood up and got himself a Chicken MacBurger. Angeline wondered how is she ever going to lose weight when she just got herself a Happy Meal for supper and with Ck's encouragement by eating together. Angeline thought that they were only going to drink coffee at Terminal 2. How could Angeline allow a coffee drinking session evolves into a supper eating session? Angeline shall continue to pray that U-zap works.

Money not enough!

Let's face it that money will never be enough. The question is "Do you have any extra money to spare?" Please don't be so shocked. Angeline is not asking you to give her your money. Please donate to Red Cross China Earthquake Appeal.

For more information about the Earthquake Appeal, please log onto http://www.redcross.org.sg/chinaearthquake_src_donate.htm

四川地震2008

Angeline decided to flaunt her Mandarin for once. Never once has Angeline blog using Mandarin words, this shall be the first time and Angeline prays it won't be the last too. Angeline is confident to make many drop their jaws in a split second.

Although Angeline is percieved as a food blogger who loves to source for good food and post entries about it, Angeline tries her best to be updated about happenings in the world. As suggested, this entry is about 四川地震. Angeline trusts that most of her friends are awared of this and she shall not bothered to give a detailed account of how many people were trapped, died, escaped or saved. If you really want to know, please go and buy the Straits Time to read. If you are really don't have 70 cents to spare, please tune into Channel NewsAsia, Channel 5 or 8 or even log onto the Internet to source for more information.

Then why is Angeline blogging about the 四川地震 then? The sudden event of the earthquake changed Angeline's perception of her own life to a certain extent. Of course earthquakes are sudden, you don't expect them to give you a courtesy call to inform you that they will be visiting you after all. Here Angeline is, complaining about her lowly paid job, the nonsense that she have to tolerate at work and after work, and everything that Angeline could find fault with, Angeline have not stopped for a second to wonder how are the survivors coping in 四川.

Why is Angeline still complaining when I have my loved ones with me?
Why is Angeline still complaining when I have a home to go back to?

Why is Angeline still complaining when I have friends to rely on?

Why is Angeline still complaining when I have a job?
Why is Angeline still complaining when I don't have to worry about the next day?

Angeline indeed does not know better. But there are indeed people who have more than Angeline, for example, a higher income, landed property, luxurious car, and the list goes on. Angeline suddenly remembered an idiom that she learnt before, "比上不足,比下有余". To put it simply, when you compared yourself against someone stronger, you are not good enough. However, when you compared yourself against someone weaker, you have more than enough. What is the moral of the story? Angeline thinks it is contentment. Angeline shall learn to be contented with what she has and learn to cherish and treasure them. This is the difference between knowing it and practicising it. Angeline is still learning.

Angeline told you that she would be able to stun you with her Mandarin. Look at that idiom. Isn't that amazing (considering it comes from Angeline)?

Gastronomia with LJWS

Angeline went out with LJWS last friday to Gastronomia near Serene Centre. Angeline will like to highlight 3 points here. Please take note:
  • LJWS refers to Lissa, Jamilah, Wahila and Shu Ping.
  • Gastronomia was spelled as Gastronmia in the photoshop collage because Angeline was too lazy to change.
  • Gastronomia is NOT located at Serene Centre as mentioned on the photoshop collage, so please do NOT go looking for it there.
Angeline shall continue blogging then.

Angeline and LJWS ordered 3 slices of Pizza (Mushroom, Salmon & Beef), Pasta Salad, Butternut Pumpkin, Beef Goulash and Yoghurt Bread Crumble for sharing. Angeline forgot the total cost, she only rememebered that the 5 of them had paid S$12.50 each. If you still don't know the total cost, Angeline suggests that you can hire her as your private tutor.

Angeline love the food and she will give 3 out of 5 stars happily. Angeline even intended to drag Ck to dine there today. As a matter of fact, Ck is more of the 'Cheena' food person. Angeline really like the concept of the place. Customers just have to go to the counter to order the food, pay for their purchase, find a seat outdoors and start eating. Angeline thinks that it is something similar to the Alfresco dining concept in Europe. But honestly, it is really just a HIGHER class fast food place. WAHAHA! Don't chey Angeline la!

As usual, LJWS could not touch the yummy-looking food until Angeline had her photos taken. In fact, Angeline thought she was very kind to take lovely photos of them and she doesn't mind being the last one to eat. Don't chey Angeline again la! Honestly? Angeline knew she was just being vain. HAPPY?

The 4 Beauties at Gastronomia - LJWS, don't be too happy, scroll down!

The MOST Pretty One at Gastronomia - KIDDING LA!

J paid for dinner at the counter. As usual, Angeline and LWS said "THANK YOU" to her promptly. Too bad, she didn't get the hint literally. So in the end, Angeline and LWS still had to paid S$12.50. The evidence is as follow:

J was collecting money from all her debtors, Angeline and LWS.

After all the drama, everyone decided to eat their dinner. Well, maybe everyone except Angeline. She continued to take more 'natural' pictures of the 4 beauties.

W and L were listening to S's exchange of widsom - FINE! The more layman's term = Gossip la!

L and S's turn to listen to W's exchange of wisdom. Do NOT make me repeat.

Honestly speaking, Angeline knew that she was running the risk of being murdered ruthlessly by LJWS. She took such unglamourous photos of them and published it online literally. To think Angeline still could claim that she is a good photographer. Don't chey Angeline again and again la! To prove herself right, please scroll down to see the MOST 'natural' photographs of the 4 beauties and not forgetting, the MOST pretty one.

W and L's Sensodyne Smile - W thought that Angeline has that kind of smile whenever she takes photos, therefore the nickname appeared.

Angeline and L's Sensodyne Smile - Please say "Sensodyne" whenever you want to take photo for the best effect.

Angeline and S's Sensodyne Smile - Angeline thought they looked quite alike.

Angeline and J's Sensodyne Smile - Angeline didn't photoshop this photo but the effect is already there. *bish*

Since the topic was focused on 'photography', Angeline shared with the 4 beauties that everyone got a better looking side. As usual, they don't believe Angeline's words. What to do? Angeline had to prove them right again. Angeline took the right and left sides of J and S. Once again, what to do? Angeline is RIGHT!

J's Left Side

J's Right Side

S's Left Side

S's Right Side

So, the question is J looks better on the right or left? And, the next question is what about S? To Angeline, it doesn't matter because it is not HER right or left. Chey Angeline again. It is okay. Angeline is getting used to it.

One good news (or maybe not so good) for LJWS, Angeline had photoshopped the gathering at Gastronomia.

  • L - I really added the most unglamourous photo of you here.
  • J - I thought you love the most sensual photo that you have taken on that day.
  • W - I rememered that you agree to take that photo, so here it is.
  • S - You really don't look werid la.

Angeline is quite happy with her work. HURRAY!

Desserts with MMC

Angeline went to Cafe Cartel at Bukit Panjang Plaza (BPP) on 1 May 2008 with MMC. MMC? Mummy, Marlyn and Celine. How can Angeline remember the date so well after two weeks? Because Angeline celebrated her grandma's 80th birthday on that date. Since Daddy got to go to 257 to settle some accounts, Angeline and MMC decided to visit BPP for some desserts.

Angeline paid for the desserts because she got 10% discount by paying with UOB cards. Therefore, friends who want to dine at Cafe Cartel, please pay with your UOB debit or credit cards to be eligible for the discount. Please DO NOT be mistaken that Angeline is doing advertorial for Cafe Cartel or Angeline will recieve a commission when she posts this entry. Nothing of those sort!

Celine insisted on ordering this Eastside Brownie - 3.5 / 5 stars

Angeline is adamant to try this Bread Pudding from Cafe Cartel - 4 / 5 stars.

Angeline and Celine at Cafe Cartel

Angeline was happy that the Bread Pudding tasted yummy with the icy Vanilla Ice-Cream.

Celine looked equally delighted to be eating her famous Eastside Brownie.

Mummy has no preferences about the two desserts.

After eating the desserts, Angeline suddenly felt very guilty. In a day, she went to eat Tim Sum at Red Star for brunch, took buffet at Grandma's house for dinner and had desserts at Cafe Cartel for supper. OH NO! Angeline rushed home to work on U-Zap immediately. Angeline hopes it helps!

Shall I or Shall I not?

Angeline is in a dilemma. She couldn't make up her mind. About what? Angeline couldn't decide whether to perm her hair or not? Silly? FINE!

Angeline took leave on 2 May 2008 to go to SchoolHouse by the Bay to sign her new employment contract. She has tendered her resignation from Gracefields Childcare and she will join the new pre-school officially on 30 June 2008. Angeline miss teaching badly and wants to teach again. Lying? Yes. SchoolHouse by the Bay is offering Angeline a higher pay with 13th month bonus. Happy? Of course.

Since Angeline has another half a day to herself in the afternoon, she decided to go for a haircut at Jean Yip. She quickly made a call to Daryl and fixed an appointment for an hour later. Honestly, Angeline was getting bored of her long, flat, thick and untidy hair. She asked Daryl to suggest a new hairstyle. To her surprise, Daryl asked her to try perming it. Not as if Angeline has forgotten how the last perm has turned out. In short, Angeline looks perfectly like an AUNTIE. But Daryl insisted that she tried larger curls at the hair ends, which will make Angeline look better. Not very confident of it, Angeline decided to ask Daryl to set her hair first before making a decison. Unbelieveable! Angeline actually likes what she saw in the mirror. Oh dear! Now the question is "SHALL I OR SHALL I NOT?

Since the perm will cost around S$200, Angeline turned to Ck for some opinions. As usual, Ck is more interested to get his dinner settled. Therefore, the pair walked around United Square and found a Korean restaurant. One glance at the prices, Angeline and Ck walked into it and sat down happily. It was Ck's treat to celebrate for Angeline in getting a new job. After much browsing and whinning, both Angeline and Ck got a Chicken Bibimbap each and Rice Flour Dumpling Soup for sharing.

Bibimbap

Bibimbap Sauce, Anchovies & Kimchi

Bean Sprouts, Sesame Vegetables & Bibimbap Sauce

Ck was reading Angeline's Contract.

Angeline and Ck after the meal.

Angeline couldn't help to show off her temporary curls.

Angeline really likes her new curls.

Look! Nice right?

Angeline is super tempted to perm her hair again. Ck's opinion is S$200 is a little bit expensive and the maintenance of the curls will cost more money. This is indeed troubling for Angeline.

Now, the question is SHALL I OR SHALL I NOT?
