[ gEyLaNg sEraI foR mE ]

For my readers' information, I am officially half a Malay according to many of my close friends' observation. They even gave me a Malay name called 'Aisha' to that extent.

Ar Bish!

Seriously, I also have no idea why. Maybe, my circle of close friends are Malays. Ha! It's true.

I went out with Jo, Jam and Wa on Thursday after work. We went to break fast together at Al-Alzhar (I think the spelling should be right) at Bukit Timah. Upon reaching there, I saw many Malays waiting to break fast. There were plates of food on every table but no one is eating them. They are all waiting for the TIME. So everyone is practically staring at the food. We ordered the food and it came specially fast on that day. Out of courtesy, I decided not to eat as well. I don't think it is polite to gobble your food in front of so many pairs of hungry eyes. Ha! Therefore, I waited with them. And then the prayers started over the 'radio' (That's what I think it was).

Immediately, almost everyone at Al-Alzhar started eating. Ha! SO DID I! I was starving!!!

After dinner, Ida joined us for Geyland Serai. I was feeling excited. My first time there! Yes, I am a Singaporean. Need I say more?

Traffic was moving at a snail pace. We took more than half an hour to drive there, travelling at the speed of 60km/h. Gosh! ON PIE?

The girls decided to bring me to one of the bazar at Geylang Serai. Anyway, they need to get some stuff for Hari Raya as well. I practically acted like a 'tourist' there, taking pictures as I walked around the bazar. Ha!

Jam was my 'tour guide' for the night trip.

First stop was to buy 'baju' for Jo. He needed it to do a dance for Vanda's concert this year. We came by a shop that sells fanciful 'baju kebaya' and Jam happened to notice that it sells 'baju' for children as well. We stopped by to ask and the salesman was quite helpful. He got the size for Jo to tried on. He even kneeled down to help Jo to put it on. (Bonus: He looks cute!) The new 'baju' looks great on Jo and deal is sealed!

'Baju Kebaya'

I was tempted to buy one for myself.

Jo was struggling to get into the 'baju'.

Our handsome BOY

We continued to window shop around. Well, let the photos do the talking now!

My Paradise - I LOVE BAGS!

Jo got a pair of slippers from this shop.

Beautiful lighting for your home?

These packets of decorations should do the trick as well.

It reminds me of Chinese New Year's decoration.

Malay Goodies - I don't know the names?

Food Bazar - You will love IT!

That practically summed up the whole Geylang Serai's trip. Tired but HAPPY!

[ pEarL JaM - laSt kIsS ]

I am totally MESMERIZED with this song. (In case you're still wondering, please look at the title.) I can't help but to put it on the repeat mode, listening to it over and over again.

CK had introduced this song to me and I'm loving it. Two days back, we were walking along Sun-Tec City looking for my Yami Yoghurt when he heard this song being played in the background. Immediately, he exclaimed that he has been searching HIGH & LOW for this song, however, in vain. (Because he doesn't know the artist and the title.) Therefore, I volunteered to help him.

I found it on
http://www.sogou.com/. Malcolm has introduced this POWERFUL search engine for me. Indeed! I got the song quite effortlessly. I just typed in 'Oh where oh were can my baby be?' and the title and the artist just appeared on my screen. Ha!

I decided to go the extra mile. I went to surf for the lyrics as well. The lyrics sort of remind me the song 'Love Me'. My eyes became wet (out of a sudden).

Pearl Jam - Last Kiss

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to Heaven so I got to be good.
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

We were out on a date in my daddy's car.
We hadn't driven very far.
There in the road, straight ahead.
A car was stalled, the engine was dead.
I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right.
I'll never forget the sound that night.
The screaming tires, the busting glass.
The painful scream that I heard last.

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to Heaven, so I got to be good.
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

When I woke up the rain as pouring down.
There were people standing all around.
Somthing warm flowing through my eyes.
But somehow I found my baby that night.
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said,
Hold me darling just a little while.
I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss.
I found the love that I knew I had missed.
Well, now she's gone even though I hold her.
I lost my love, my life, that night.

Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to Heaven so I got to be good.
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

Woh woh woh woh woh
Ohhh oh ohhhh
Woh ohhh oh oh oh ohhhh
Ohhh oh oh oh oh
Woh ohhh oh oh oh ohhhh
Ohhh oh oh oh oh
What says you?

[ WaTeR ]

Your element is Water

Understanding, intelligent, quiet and calm. You know who you are and no one can change that. Usually quiet but only because you're listening. Don't let anyone think you haven't got an opinion! You're not quiet because you're shy or sad, you're usually quiet because you're thinking. Your answers are well planned and helpful so people generally seek your advice.

You're the perfect balance between solitary and outgoing. But sometimes, you need a little time to yourself to sort out your emotions and figure things out. You understand the phrase 'sticks and stone' and rarely let things get to you. What's that important for you to have to get so upset over? You know what you want out of life but are simply taking your time and enjoying things. To you, your life is fine as it is, you can always change things later if you're not happy.

[ i sHd maKe mOre $$$$$$$$$$ ]

Here I am sitting in my office, mulling over low enrollment and getting upset all over it. Apparently, one of the parents told me she would like to withdraw the child after the trial period. ARGH! At the back of my head, I was just thinking, "WHAT THE FUCK? AGAIN?!" I hate the rollar coaster ride that I have been going through for the past 2 months, enrollment going up and down, children coming in out and my mood swinging here and there. But there is only so much that I can do. I had even sent her an email 'begging' her to re-consider her decision. GOD, I am PRAYING so hard for a miracle to happen NOW!

Well. That is just a little rant felt by me.

Anyway, the main focus is on this book called 'Perceptive Play! The A to Z of Discerning Fun for Tots and Parents written by Wong Li Lin. Yes, she is the MediaCorp actress who married Allan Wu and gave birth to a daughter. What's her name again? I conveniently forgot. Ha!

I was browsing through some books at MPH (City Hall) on Monday. I was trying to kill some time while waiting for my Dad to knock off so that I can pick him up. It just so happened that I was walking past the 'Childcare' section and the book caught my attention. I have to admit that I used to be a fan of Wong when I was younger (maybe 10 years old?). Thus, I couldn't resist the temptation to pick up the book and flipped through it.

Initially, I was quite taken aback that Wong actually authored a book. A biography is more like it. But a book about parenting tips isn't exactly what I have in mind about Wong's forte. After reading through some of the strategies that Wong had provided in her book, I agreed with her and I will praise her for putting in effort to include interactive ideas of perceptive play for young children.

The ONLY flaw in Wong's book is EVERY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR knows about the strategies and has implemented the suggested ideas in their curriculum. While I was browsing, I managed to identify quite a fair bit that was being used in my OWN classroom. So theoretically, I am able to become a AUTHOR myself and make big bucks from the copyright and sales. I just have to collate some of the SUPER interesting and hands-on components together, maybe plus playing around with the E-language and BINGO!

Now, the question is WHY DIDN'T I?

The cover of Wong's Book

More information about the book:
Perceptive Play! The A to Z of Discerning Fun for Tots and Parents will put an end to your "What will I do with my child so she can have fun and learn?" conundrums! Chock-full of ideas, Perceptive Play! offers well-planned and utterly thoughtful play activities that will surely delight toddlers, preschoolers and parents! With one activity for every week of the year, you will be brimming with ideas on how to play with your tots. Lessons are built in on the sly, giving you plenty of tips on how to make the most of each game and activity. Look forward to box-house engineering, literacy fishing, inter-spatial relations doodling and stories that feed the imagination. Perceptive Play! also incorporates the concepts of maths and science for young minds.

P/S: If you are a fan of Allan Wu, my suggestion is to buy the book. His photos are included as well. Now, that's a bonus for buyers. But then again, what is the connection? Ha!

[ I'm TurNing 24 ]

I will be 24 officially on 10 November 2007. Just in case, anyone who doesn't know or conveniently forgot all about it. That is my birthday.

After living on this planet for the past (almost) 24 years, I can proudly declared that I am contented with my life.
  • I got my driving licence and can DRIVE a car. (Thank GOD!)
  • Up to date, I was only involved in one accident and left totally unhurt.
  • I got a promotion this year. (Yes la, my pay increased too.)
  • I have important ppl in my life whom I want to cherish and protect. (Of course it's CK, Papa and Mama and Ah Ma.)
  • My friends never fail to entertain me when I need them. (Namely Joelle, Marcus, Wahila, Jam, Lissa, Brighton)
  • My temper changed for the better. (I SWEAR!)
  • I learnt to let go. (Yes, literally.)
  • I made new friends. (Hannah, Satimah, Marlinda & Duck - not very new actually)
  • I am enjoying (& struggling with) my Bachelor classes.
  • I am going to graduate with a Hons degree next Feb. (HURRAY!)
  • I still stick by my principles - What I doesn't know doesn't hurt me, What goes around comes around, Love one and only once.
  • There is no ABSOLUTE in this world. (Too many ppl have told me that and I am beginning to understand and accept that.)
  • I still bask in the enjoyment of educating young children. (Including traumatizing them, WAHAHA!)

What's more can I ask for right?

Anyway, CK has given me my birthday present for this year and I have been using it for the past 2 days. IT is the NEW Samsung U-700. THANK YOU, DEAR DEAR! DREAM PHONE SEH!

[ i NeEd tO gO for iT tOO! ]

I was browsing through some of the blogs that I read frequently and one of it caught my attention. It was about the female lead actress of the Korean popular movie, '200 Pounds Beauty'. CK and I had caught it quite a few months back, so I could still rem Kim Ah Jung quite vividly.

Trailer of 200 Pounds Beauty

Kim Ah Jung

After reading the gossip on the Korean actress, I went to surf the net for more information and found quite a bit on the related topic. Apparently, Kim Ah Jung REALLY had cosmetic sugery, just like the character in the show. But thank goodness, she was not exactly 200 pounds, just slightly over weight. That is not the point! The sugery changed her ENTIRE appearance totally. In the photo provided, she looked like a plain Jane and I bet no one will take a second look. (Prehaps some even choose to miss the first look.) BUT BUT BUT LOOK AT HER NOW! One of Korean MOST GORGEOUS LOOKING actress!

Before & After

Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE!

Well, if that is what any girl can achieve, I bet everyone will queue to go under the knife. YES! Including myself. No girl is happy with the way she is. (IN MY OWN OPINIONS) Like it or not, girls can always find faults with themselves. Eyes? Nose? Mouth? Boobs? Fats? You name it, and there it is!

Seriously, I will choose to get myself a pair of dimples. That is always what I wanted since young. Maybe I will go for double eyelids as well. Plus a liposuction. YA! IF ONLY, I have the $$$ and I am able to bear with all the pain that comes along with the operation. It is not too bad just to dream about it. Doesn't it? JUST take a LOOK before you answer.

Freaking HOT!

Girly Sweet

Sexy

Nude is still the best!

Hot Pink ain't too bad!

What is your answer now?

[ yOU beLieVe iN It? ]

Apparently, I have recieved this mail repeatedly in my Friendster account, Hotmail account, Yahoo account as well as Google account. No doubt, I sent it to some of my friends when I recieved it for the first time and NOTHING happened. So it just confirmed that IT IS NOT REAL! It could be just a advertisement gimmick that is being circulated around. Well, I guess everyone goes for cheap thrill, including myself.

****************************************

The mail as follows:

This was on the 9:00 o'clock news the other night and this works THIS TOOK TWO PAGES OF THE TUES! DAY USA TODAY - IT IS FOR REAL. PLEASE READ!!!! It was on the news! This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suitsimilar to the one filed by Pepsi Co against General Electric not too long ago.

Dear Friends, please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates sharing his fortune. If you ignore this, you will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test. When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (If you are a Microsoft Windows user). For a two weeks time period, every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00. For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

Regards,
Charles S Bailey
General Manager
Field Operations
Ext. 1085 or or RNX

I thought this was a scam myself. But two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I receive a check for $24, 800.00. You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the man. It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible.

****************************************
After reading it through once more, I realised the last paragraph is the pulling factor that make me forward this mail to my friends. I have read it before that when the advertisement includes a real-life example, it makes it look more convincing than the others. Take Marie France Bodyline, Expressions and Mary Chia for example, these sliming centres used celebrities to boost the public's confidence of their products and they have included the plain Janes who have also successfully shed the weight that they desired. But compared to the statistic who signed up agasinst those who managed to achieve their aim, I guess it will be fairer in this sense.

So what is the moral of the story?
