We are Scorpios!

After Angeline worked at Schoolhouse by the Bay for two years, Angeline made more friends. Unknown to many people, Angeline is a slow to warm up person and she does not open up to many of her acquaintances easily.

Getting to know know people had allowed Angeline to discover that she has many colleagues who shared the same horoscope as her and they worked miraculously well together. Thus, Angeline and her colleagues decided to throw a mini birthday celebration for themselves.

Angeline is responsible for the purchase of the cake and she bought a Tropical Mango Cake for the occasion. Though it tasted slightly sour, Angeline still thinks that it is pretty sweet. After all, the celebration is indeed joyous for them!

P/S: Angeline hopes to spend a few more years at Schoolhouse.

P/P/S: Angeline is looking forward to her own birthday celebration with Ck.

PPX is back!

On Tuesday evening, Angeline received a sms while watching TV at home. She was still wondering who could it be, as not many people would sms Angeline around that time. It turned out to be Sharon who is back from Australia. It had been a good 2 years since Angeline last contacted Sharon.

Thus, Angeline called Sharon immediately and arranged a time to meet up for coffee. It was arranged for Sunday afternoon at Orchard Road. It was considered a relatively short coffee session, perhaps just about an hour. However, Angeline realises that Sharon is one friend whom she could talk to about anything in the Universe. The friendship is still there despite there is no contact between them for 2 whole years.

Thankfully, Angeline has many of those friends like Sharon. This is indeed Angeline's blessing.

P/S: Angeline misses her friends.
P/P/S: It is time to start calling her friends out.

1+1+1+1=4

Angeline and Albert celebrated their 4th anniversary on 21st October 2009. The celebration was kept very simple with a cake, a bouquet of flowers, a romantic dinner and the presents.

Angeline believes that there will be more anniversaries to celebrate together with this man, simply because they click and know what makes each other tick. True and true enough, Angeline found the man.

As the saying goes, 'To the World, you may be one person. BUT to one person, you may be the World.' Angeline shall conquer Albert's World then or is it the reverse?

P/S: Ck did not just get the Eureka's DVD.
P/P/S: Angeline bought him a briefcase too.
P/P/S: What is Angeline's present?

First Time of 2009

It is the time of the year again where Angeline is caught busy with reports writing.

Over the weekend, Angeline has completed a miserable 10 reports, as compared to the 40 reports that she has to write.

Angeline is still planning to go hiking on the coming Good Friday Holiday.

From the looks of it, Angeline is beginning to suspect the feasibility of her hiking plans.

Angeline is praying hard for a miracle.

P/S: If Angeline can't go for the hike, Angeline will go for MJ overnight.
P/P/S: Angeline thinks that the MJ overnight is better!
P/P/P/S: As Angeline is getting busy, there might be NO updates for a while.

NOT The Best of Both Worlds

Angeline is tempted to go to Taiwan and Korea this year. Ck will most probably faint at the thought of it. Angeline is still thinking which country to choose. Is it really too much to go to two countries in 1 year?

Angeline shall make a wise choice to avoid Ck's unhappiness.

P/S: Angeline shall try to test water.
P/P/S: It failed miserably

Season Greetings!

Angeline has been really busy with her Chinese New Year's visiting. To the extent, Angeline has not even text anyone to wish them a 'Happy Chinese New Year'. Angeline is not being lazy, Angeline is just going to wait for the 15th day of the New Year before she send out her well wishes to her friends. Since the tradition is to send texts on the eve, 1st or 2nd day of the New Year, Angeline shall break through the tradition and send her text on the 15th. Wahahaha!

Here, Angeline wishes YOU a HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

P/S: Angeline is still going for more visiting in the coming weekend.
P/P/S: Angeline went on a eating marathon since the eve BUT she has not put on any weight so far. Gee!
P/P/S: Of course, Park Royal is just ONE of the examples.

Gong Hei Fa Choi

Angeline decided to be (more) sincere in wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year by sending her best wishes on the eve. In the year of the 'OX', Angeline wishes that everyone (including herself) is blessed with good fortune and good health. Angeline don't think that it is too much to wish for good Mahjong luck for herself. Hee!

P/S: Angeline is going to play Mahjong this evening.
P/P/S: Angeline needs to win after spending S$150.00 on her nails.

Blessing in disguise?

With great anticipation, Angeline looks forward to the year-end picnic with her class at Katong Park. Unfortunately, Angeline sprained her neck just a day before the event. Oh well!

From Daiso at IMM, Angeline bought 2 frisbees and 1 (super bouncy) HOT PINK ball for the year-end picnic. Angeline was even thinking of bringing the badminton rackets or parachutes for the children to play at the park. Angeline has to admit that she is slightly disappointed that she is unable to make it.

Thankfully, Angeline couldn't resist the temptation of playing with the frisbee and began to play with her class a day just after she had bought the toys. Wahaha! It was just as well that she did it. If not, she wouldn't
even get a chance to play at all because the blue frisbee that she has chosen to play has been broken by her class after a day of rough handling. Powerful anot!!!

P/S: If you have another interpretation of the blog title, be Angeline's guest. You might be right somehow.
P/P/S: Angeline is bored stiff at home with eating and sleeping.

Angeline is right!

Angeline has caught the musical 'Wizard of Oz' with Ck at Drama Centre (NLB). Angeline was right when she told Ck that he was bound to enjoy it. Ck was very thrilled about the musical and he was keen to watch more productions in the coming year. That is awesome news for Angeline!

If you have noticed that the photographs are sharper as compared to the previous ones, praise yourself for being observant. If not, Angeline would like to ask you, "What are you looking at?" Check out the new Samsung F480! It is Angeline's birthday present (from Ck) and her latest toy! Woohoo!

P/S: Angeline is actually keen to watch another production this year.
P/P/S: Angeline is skeptical about telling Ck, afterall, they just spent over 100 for 'Wizard of Oz'.

Monday, November 10, 2008

Oh no!

Angeline is feeling sad on her 25th birthday. She can no longer tell people that she is in her early twenties, but late twenties. Oh no!

But the good news is she has another 5 years before she joins the 30 club. Wahaha!

P/S: No celebration. The quarter of the century is enough to make Angeline sad the whole day.
P/P/S: Presents are most welcome though. Hee!

Oh! Like that ah?

Angeline's friends (Lissa, Jam & Wahila) are not very very very sincere. They called Angeline to go out at 4pm for dinner at Vivo City and they wanted to meet at 5pm. In the end, Angeline met up with them at 6pm.

When Angeline arrived, they hurried her to order her food so that they could start eating as soon as possible. Angeline just ordered a Beef Lasagne out of convenience. Thankfully, it was GOOD but Angeline strongly recommended the King Prawns Spaghetti!

Since everyone has gotten a set meal, they were all given a slice of cake as desserts. Jam (who has a sudden & bad craving for cakes) decided to upgrade her (pathetic) slice of Peach cake for other flavours. Unable to resist the temptation, Angeline joined her.

Out of convenience (once again and thanks to the cakes), Wahila suggested singing birthday song to the 2 birthday girls. Angeline then walked over and gotten herself and Jam the decoration and candles. This is so unsincere!

At least, Angeline made them sing the birthday song in English, Mandarin & Malay! Angeline is so smart!

P/S: Happy birthday, Jamilah!
P/P/S: Please give Angeline another 5 years to join your clubs, girls!
P/P/P/S: Check out the boots that Jam & Lissa were wearing!

Before and After

Angeline seldom posts photographs of her wearing her glasses and without make-up on, simply because she don't like that face. But once a while, Angeline still thinks that it is ok because Angeline enjoys people telling her that she looks like a different person after make-up and contact lens. Woo!

Angeline has forgotten to upload these two photographs when she was blogging the previous entry. Opps! The first one was taken while Ck and her were waiting for their hotel room to be ready. The second one was taken after the wedding banquet and Angeline is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEMPTED to go and perm her hair again. Did Angeline swear NEVER to perm her hair again when she went to re-bond her hair previously? Oh! This is indeed Angeline!

P/S: Perm hair is nice hor?
P/P/S: Sponsor Angeline la!

Angeline is a Virgin Jiemei!

Angeline was one of the Jiemei-s for Alan & Hazel's wedding on 18th October 2008. It was a busy, busy, busy day. Angeline was so busy (thus, tired) on that day that she went to bed at 10pm. If you are wondering how could the banquet end so early, Angeline would like to inform you that the banquet was on 19th October 2008.

It wasn't easy being the 'Jiemei'. She has to wake up early to go the bride's place to prepare the things to 'kekan' the BOB (Band of Brothers). Furthermore, the games must NOT be too exotic because the relatives would be there watching and the Jiemei don't really want to scare the groom away. Thus, it was difficult to be one. But of course, the reward is sweet. Seeing your girlfriend wearing the wedding gown and getting married is definitely a very happy feeling! Here, Angeline wishes Alan and Hazel many more joyous days ahead!

P/S: Angeline got a 'fat' ang bao from the GROOM. Thanks ah!
P/P/S: Angeline shall continue to be the Jiemei-s for more friends. Got it anot?

恭喜你啦! (Congratulations!)

Angeline was conned to be the MC for SD's solemnization at Rasa Sentosa. As a result, Angeline robed Ck to her partner. Please don't kid Angeline by thinking Angeline was the Chinese MC.

As MCs, we were supposed to reach the hotel at 10.00am for a briefing with the wedding planner and the banquet manager, as well as a rehearsal with the groom (as the bride needed to get her make-up done and her hair fixed). Knowing Angeline, it was indeed a mircale that she reached the hotel at 10.30am (after a satisfied breakfast at MacDonald's). OPPS!

Being a MC for the first time, Angeline was totally clueless about what to do. Well, it applied to Ck as well and we were both equally 'blur' when we arrived. Ok, Angeline was more blur than Ck. The worst thing is Angeline has STAGE FRIGHT (which NO ONE believes and Angeline wonders why).

The morning was experienced in a fast fowarded motion and the time has came for the solemnization. Angeline wondered if the groom and bride were more nervous than she was. That was the only comfort that Angeline could find at that moment. After all, the attention would be on them instead of the MC.

There was no way that Angeline could back out at that moment, so she went ahead with her role and hosted the solemnization for SD.

Angeline don't really remember what has happened in details. All she could gather was there were a few people (whom she don't know) came foward and congratulated her for a good job done. HUH?

Nonetheless, Angeline was very happy for SD. Congratulations la!

P/S: Angeline has another wedding to host in October.
P/P/S: Angeline has 2 more weddings to attend this year.
P/P/S: Angeline is happy for everyone!

Thank You to You!

Happy Teacher's Day to all!

Yes, everyone is a teacher. EVERYONE! Regardless who you are, you are (once) Angeline's teacher (if you know Angeline personally). Angeline believes that you have taught her one way or another in your own ways and Angeline appreciate you for who you are.

Having said that, Angeline would still like to thank:
  1. Mom and Dad (for teaching her how to walk, talk and feed herself).
  2. Ck (for teaching her how to love).
  3. Her family memebers (for teaching how to care and share).
  4. Her classes (for teaching the meaning of PATIENCE).
  5. Her teachers (for teaching her how to pass exams - Angeline don't remember what had been taught, so her teachers must have only taught her how to pass exams).
  6. Her friends (for teaching her how to be a friend).
  7. Her colleagues (for teaching her the Do-s and the Dont's).
Without all these teachers, Angeline won't be who she is today. So, THANK YOU!

Angeline is just lucky that she has chosen to become a teacher, so she is showered with gifts on Teacher's Day. So Angeline decided to share (the pictures of) the presents with everyone! Hee!

P/S: Angeline is enjoying her LONG weekend because 1st of September is Teacher's Day and it is a MONDAY! Wahaha!
P/P/S: Where are my PHOTOS?

A Good Bargain

Angeline found a NOW (debit) card mailed to her from UOB. If Angeline has applied for it, she won't be scratching her head so hard then. After a call to Ck, she realized that her old mini debit card would be faced out by UOB in 3 weeks time and NOW card would officially take over. Angeline assumed that UOB wants to continue its banking partnerhsip with Angeline by mailing her the NOW card without her asking for it.

Sitting comfortably in Angeline's Burberry purse (blue label) now, Angeline thought that it matches with the Standard Chartered (Esprit) card which is coincidentally red in colour as well. If you are thinking that Angeline's (pathetic) salary is good enough to afford that card, Angeline would like to inform you that the card is actually a supplementary card.

After reading through the brochure that explains (prehaps 'promotes' is an more appropriate word in this context) the benefits and privileges of the NOW card, Angeline decided to activate it and start using it.

Why you should apply for UOB NOW Card?

  1. The UOB NOW Card is an ez-link card, a debit card and an ATM card all rolled into one.
  2. Sign up now to enjoy first year fee waiver and stand a chance to win more than S$20,000 worth of SONY & Sony Ericsson products in the NOW Lucky Draw.
  3. Get SMART$ rebates when you use your UOB NOW Debit Card. SMART$ work just like regular dollars, allowing you to redeem cash discount for shopping, dining and entertainment at over 500 outlets across Singapore.

  1. You must be a Singapore Citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident or foreigner and at least 16 years old.

How much does it cost?

  1. Annual card membership fee of S$18 will be charged per year.

Being A Mother

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.

She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night, I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. "What's wrong, are you well?" she asked. My Mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

"I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you," I responded, "Just the two of us." She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, I was a bit nervous as I drove over to pick her up. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an Angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car, "They can't wait to hear about our date."

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My Mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.

After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

"It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said. "Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life.

We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my Mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there. But nevertheless, I paid for two plates, one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time, "I Love You" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till 'some other time'.

Somebody said it takes
about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby.
Somebody doesn't know that once you're a Mother, ‘normal’ is history.
Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first.
Somebody doesn't have two or more children.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a Mother is labour and delivery.
Somebody never watched her ‘baby’ get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military ‘boot camp’.
Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married.
Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a Mother's heartstrings.
Somebody said a Mother's job is done when her last child leaves home.
Somebody never had grandchildren.
Somebody said your Mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her.

Somebody isn't a Mother.

This isn't just about being a Mother. It's about appreciating the people in your lives while you have them no matter who that person is.

Watch your Thoughts, they become Words.
Watch your Words, they become Actions
Watch your Actions, they become Habits.
Watch your Habits, they become Character.
Watch your Character, for it becomes your Destiny.

A Hole in the Pocket

After dragging the visit to the doctor for 4 days, Angeline finally made the consultation on 11 June 2008. As Angeline woke up with an even more terrible headache, sore throat, blocked nose and watery eyes, she knew that she has no other choice but to consult the doctor.

The inital plan was to make the trip to the doctor in the morning, come back home and sleep after taking lunch and the medicine. However, Angeline was really feeling so sick that she could only managed to wake up at 1pm.

Taking a quick shower to freshen up, Angeline was feeling slightly better. She decided to take a cab there, just in case she fainted from the extreme heat. To Angline's utter disappoinment, the clinic was CLOSED. Gee! Angeline just wasted S$3.00 on cab. Ok! The clinic was a stone throw from Angeline's house and anyone (healthy, who is NOT Angeline) can walk there within 5 to 10 minutes. Looking at the consultation hours, the clinic would be open again at 7pm. Feeling very reluctant to walk home, Angeline called her Papa to fetch her back.

Upon reaching home, Angeline did some channel surfing while waiting for the clinic to be opened again at 7pm. Being the typical 'Kiasu' Singaporean, Angeline left her house at 6.40pm and reached the clinic at 6.45pm. If you are thinking she is the only one waiting outside the clinic, you are wrong. There were already 2 persons in the queue when Angeline arrived. To think Angeline believes that she was being 'Kiasu' enough. Oh well!

Angeline assumed that the doctor would see his first patient at 7pm since it was printed on the door in black and white as the consultation hours. To Angeline's dismay, the doctor strolled in at 7.15pm and asked for the first patient 5 minutes later. Angeline (who was the 3rd in queue) only managed to see the doctor at 7.38pm. All Angeline has to say is "Happy OT to Dr. Loke!"

Dr. Loke did the check-up for Angeline and concluded that she has viral infection. Thus, she needs to be put on antibiotics. As Angeline complained of a terrible headache, sore throat and watery eyes, Dr. Loke prescribed medicine for each of the following symptoms. Looking at the previous records, Angeline apparently would develope gastric if she consumes some of the medicine at one time. As a result, Dr. Loke added another dosage of gastric pills for Angeline. As if that is not enough for Angeline, Dr. Loke went on to prescribe ventolin tablets for Angeline. Apparently, the tablets would help Angeline to open her sensitive airways and help for to breathe better. Sadly, Angeline's attempts to bargain for the number of medicine to be reduced have failed, as Dr. Loke explained that it was neccessary for Angeline to take all the prescribed medicine.

In the end, Angeline left the clinic with 7 types of medicine, 2 days of Medical Leave and a total bill of S$43.00.

Angeline has burned a hole in her pocket. On the other hand, Dr. Loke has his pocket filled with S$43.00 that Angeline has contributed.
